Well it is Monday and the worst of the storm is over and we are left with broken tree limbs all over the place, and strange enough as it is - there is literally no more snow on the ground. Seems weird to have all the destruction of the ice and snow and then no more snow within 36 hours.
We lost power Saturday morning about 8:30 or 9 (while we were fixing breakfast- no less). We got out the propane stove and finished the food for breakfast. Then we all sat down and had a God-induced time out. WOW! It was nice. We brought a corded phone out of hiding and plugged it in to call about the power outage. We stoked up the fireplace and all just relaxed- because what else are you going to do-really? We had a phone call from our cousins next door wondering what we were wanting for lunch. They had propane for cooking and we had the fireplace for heat. What a collaboration. They brought over food and we sat around the living room and caught up on every ones lives and stories and kids and what everyone was doing. After the kids all ate (we had about 7 kids running around between 3 families) the adults ate and then we settled in to play cards. We were to have power back on by 3pm, according to the electric company recording, so by 3:30 we called again and the recording said 16-32 hours! What a big difference! We all had a good laugh and started another hand of cards. We had power by about 6pm.
The day was very nice. No major problems but a great time that we could all connect and have a fun day. This should happen more often.
